ART ELEMENTS BLOG HOP SEPTEMBER THEME: FOLIAGE

This is my initially time taking part in an Artwork Aspects Site Hop.  I was intrigued by the theme of foliage considering the fact that that has been my concept for most of the decades I have been generating ceramic beads.  I generally make a mold from crops and use it as the foundation for pendants, toggle clasps and cabochons.  I normally hand paint on the colored glazes and almost never ever use underglazes. The photograph previously mentioned is a sample of pendants in my regular way of building.

For some time I have been pondering about other ways of earning leaves and bouquets.  I have a assortment of dried leaves that have fallen off a rubber plant I have in the residence. I enjoy their graceful circulation and lyrical strains and type.

I resolved I required to hand build my leaves and flowers. These leaves (pictured over) and some Victorian botanical drawings were my inspiration.  I confined my applications to making use of an orange wooden cuticle stick for makings the markings  on the leaves. My clay system was a white stoneware clay which I fireplace to cone 5 (a little bit previously mentioned 2100 levels F.)  I began tiny but as time went on my leaves got more substantial and greater.

When it came to glazing what I designed I was a bit stymied at 1st.  I decided to try out some underglazes which I do not ordinarily like for the reason that they are so rigid.  But I wanted all these markings to clearly show up as a result of the other glazes I made use of.  So I attempted out a black and a blue.  I was not sad with the result.

What am I heading to do with all of these creations?  I system to use them in some of my cost-free sort peyote stitch jewellery.  And some I have positioned in my Etsy shop.

This has been a terrific working experience for me to be in this site hop.
